2009 Horse and Hawk Cabernet Sauvignon

If you only buy one (and don’t), this should be it. It really is showing quite spectacularly now. (As the representative of another top winery who was tasting with us agreed. But then, her wines are also amazing – so it’s easy to be cool.)

The winery says:

Brilliant, deep garnet red in the glass; perfumed with notes of wild blackberry, ripe roses, and white pepper spice. Smooth silky mouthfeel offering notes of blueberry, cedar, and wild rose. Finishes a pleasing dry cocoa and black fruit, long and sultry. Superbly balanced with integrated tannins. This wine is a perfect complement to any hearty meal. Enjoy with a grass-fed beef brisket, fresh grilled asparagus, and basmati rice pilaf.

It's hard to imagine any Napa Cabernet of this vintage (and at this price) any better than this.
