Wine Enthusiast 90-point review:
Almost like liquid cherry pie—but not sweet—this medium-bodied wine smells like the red fruit and baking spices, and tastes fresh and juicy with both red and sour cherries. It has good heft on the palate due to firm but light tannins and supportive acidity for balance.
Plus 91 from the PinotFile:
The nose offers a pleasing blend of fruit black cherry and savory earthy flora and herb aromas. Beautifully composed with vivid flavors of black cherry, black raspberry and spice framed by chalky, fine grain tannins, and finishing with modest length. An engaging wine that also represents enviable value.
Brutucao, by the way, is a partnership between two families who have been growing grapes here for 80 years (since 1943), and making wine for over 40. And their expertise and experience really show in these three utterly archetypal Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs.
As we always say, the only problem with these is we couldn’t get more of them.
