From some of California's oldest Chardonnay vines. Galloni says:
The 2015 Chardonnay Peugh Vineyard is rich and intense on the palate, with striking phenolic intensity. Candied lemon, dried pear, herb and dried flowers are nicely laced together. There is lovely complexity here, not to mention striking depth. The Peugh emerges from 70 year-old, head trained vines in the Russian River.
The winery says:
This wine is tauter still than the 2014; upon opening the wine, the nose is initially reluctant to reveal itself. With air and a little warmth, notes of fragrant iris and caraway seed emerge, buffeted by a hint of dry lanolin. The palate opens to reveal waves of cool white pepper, pink jasmine, and a flirtatious, juicy pungency. Precise acids guide the wine to a refreshing finish. Drink now through 2024. Alcohol: 13.4%.
