This has to be the cleverest – and most apropos – name Lee has yet come up with for a wine. As he explains on the back label:
We chose the best of three lots of already outstanding wines and through much trials and tribulations [okay, I beg to differ here: tasting wines ain’t exactly a tribulation – at least not wines as good as these] we arrived with this magnificent wine. [With that assessment I completely agree.] It opens with the structure of a Cab and flows to the elegant finish.
So the Cabernet is the fighter jet here: the supersonic palate dazzler that provides what sommelier types would call the “attack.” Then the Merlot and Petite Sirah provide the rich, lush, opulent and velvety fruit that trail along in and so fluidly extend its exceptionally delicious wake. They’re the “slipstream.”
The overall blend is hugely impressive. And easily the equivalent of the normal $40 retail average of its component parts.
