No US press (though the Wine Advocate rated the lesser 2017 vintage 94 points). The UK market has been particularly abuzz about this – comparing it (favorably) to de Montille’s far more expensive white Burgundies.

Decanter says:

Broad but precise in texture, this exudes green and yellow fruits interspersed with salted caramel and fennel. Justin Willett of Tyler Winery partnered with a group of mentors for the Racines label: Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve of Domaine de Montille, as well as Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters for their still-in-the-works sparkling wine. The Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is built around the Wenzlau vineyard, and spends 12 months in barrel before being racked to tank for a further six months.

In fact, they rate it equal to de Montille’s famed $300 Puligny Caillerets in the great 2012 vintage (from vines that touch Le Montrachet itself!).

If you don’t believe California can capture both the quality AND the style (and the magic) of great white Burgundy, try this.

And it’s only 12.5% alcohol!
