Chehalem owns the very first vineyard planted in the Willamette Valley’s most prestigious AVA: Ribbon Ridge. And their “Mountains” Pinot Noir is always not only one of Oregon’s best at $30, but by far its most substantial.
The Wine Enthusiast rates this outstanding and Chehalem’s top vintage yet, saying:
Strawberry jam spread on a warm scone is a nice aromatic introduction to this wine. A powdery lilac scent floats in the background. This is a fuller-bodied wine compared with the previous vintage, with blackberries battling dark chocolate-covered espresso beans for flavor supremacy. Brawny tannins provide ample support.
As always, it’s just a bit richer and fuller than its stablemate Stoller.
Chehalem, by the way, is one of six Oregon wineries with B Corp status, the most of any state.
