This tiny Saint-Emilion is quite hard to find, as Daniel Boulud and other top French restauranteurs snap up most of Seillan’s production.
As you might imagine, Seillan is especially perfectionist when it comes to his home property. He ferments each tiny parcel or “micro cru” in his vineyard separately, and ages them in barrels he has custom made from the very best selected trees in the finest French oak forests.
Finding a mature (or at least maturing) red Bordeaux of this quality and pedigree, in perfect condition and at such a fair price, is a rare opportunity. I just wish we could get more of it!
