Burgundy expert John Gilman rates this 2013 one of Trapet’s all-time greats, saying:

The 2013 Trapet Chambertin was showing beautifully at the time of my visit, with a properly reserved personality, bottomless depth and stunning purity on both the nose and palate. The stunning bouquet soars from the glass in a blend of dark plums, red and black cherries, cocoa, grilled meat, a very, very complex base of soil, woodsmoke and nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and utterly seamless, with stunning mid-palate depth, ripe, perfectly integrated tannins, lovely acids and laser-like focus on the extremely long, transparent and magical young finish. One of the wines of the vintage in 2013! 2025-2085.

He even rates it above the 2019 vintage, which sells for over $1000.

Also a rare 20/20 for Revue du Vin de France, which says:

The ultimate refinement! A royal Chambertin which unfolds intense notes of lowers, fruits and spices in a festival of flavors. The balance and grain of the wine are incredible, expression of a style that is not very fleshy, but dense and compact. Stunning!

Plus top ratings from Vinous, the Wine Advocate and Burghound.

Finally, Vinous just did a big 10-year tasting of the top 2013s and rated this THE top Red Burgundy of the vintage (over Rousseau, Ponsot, Lignier, de Vogue Musigny & more – wines selling for thousands of dollars!), saying:

It is perfumed and surprisingly floral on the nose. Peony and iris touches complement the dark berry fruit with hints of cola and brown spices. This 2013 certainly shows one of the most complex and vivacious aromatics that I have found in this vintage after a decade. This has another 10-15 years to give. One of the over-performers in this vintage.
