Belugue is a true “Chateau,” that is, an 18th Century Mansion on a superb, perfectly south-facing hillside overlooking the Isle River.
Bourgeois says its “wines fully express the richness and complexity of the greatest Fronsac vines. The Chateau Belugue Fronsac is naturally intense and well-suited for aging, as its winemaking process is led by a constant care for balance and delicacy. Enjoy now or within the next 8 years.”
The Wine Enthusiast agrees, loving this 2015 vintage at $27:
This wine comes from a family-owned 19-acre property on the slopes of the Fronsac hill. The wine is still young and full of tannins. But it also offers classic stalky fruit, juicy acidity and plenty of black-currant flavors. Drink this wine with aging potential from 2022.
Like all the best Fronsacs, better than many minor Pomerols, but at a fraction the price.
