Literally the best vintage ever for the top Super-Tuscan from one of Tuscany’s finest and most highly regarded estates.

Best wine of theirs ever for Falstaff, at 96 points:

Bright ruby with a fine garnet edge. Clear and precise nose, opens with notes of blackberry and mulberry, mixed with appealing balsamic notes. Dense, gripping tannin, embedded in a lot of round texture, builds up for a long time, on the finish ripe fruits and clove.

Best ever for Suckling, too:

I love the richness to the delicious sangiovese character here with dried red berries, Christmas cake, roasted herbs, cedar and tobacco. Medium to full body, round and ripe yet structured tannins and a long, chewy finish. Shows density but freshness to boot.

And the Wine Spectator (at $80):

Ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry and tobacco aromas and flavors are warmed by toasty vanilla from a hint of new oak. Balanced and sumptuous, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit and spice. Drink now through 2032.

From an incredible, very old, steep and high-altitude, 2.2-hectare vineyard (over 70 years old), certified biodynamic and with yields of only 20 hl/ha. This is as good as Super-Tuscan Sangiovese gets. And better than pretty much any Brunello under $100.
