This superb small grower was the very first Champagne importer Charles Neal selected. And it’s still my favourite. Their vintage Blanc de Blancs, from their grand cru vineyards in Chouilly, Oiry and Cramant, is the top of their range.
Indeed, it could be the top of anybody’s range (except maybe Krug). This is an exquisite Champagne. And for what it is, a steal.
It’s…
· Pure Grand Cru Chardonnay
· From the best vintage since 2008
· Aged 8 years on its yeast
· Bottled with a low 7 g/l dosage
And it could easily pass for a 7-year-old Taittinger Comtes de Champagne. It’s that rich yet elegant, mature yet fresh and yeasty/chalky complex.
This is about as good as vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne gets.
