From the distributor:
The new oak isn't obvious on the nose, with notes of high-toned red cherry skin and rich soy sauce, almost vegetal at first smell. On the palate the oak is finely integrated: juicy cherries and red flowers are softly balanced with just a touch of sweet spice and structure.
Sourced primarily from a site in Bad Drkheim, planted to Pinot Noir in 2008; the soils here are light and sandy. The grapes were handpicked, destemmed and fermented stainless steel; pressed after 4-6 weeks and aged for two years in one new "Doppelstck" (2400L) and some old "Halbstck" (600L) barrels.
