Vinous 95 – equaling the previous top vintage of any Rizzardi ever (the 2015 Calcarole):
Keeps me at the edge of the glass, with a captivating mix of dusty black cherry and blueberry complemented by a dusty spice box full of cloves and dried flowers. This is an elegant wine with a core of minerality and radiant dark red fruits that cascade across the palate. This finishes lightly structured with balsam herbs and mocha left to linger as residual acids maintain a lovely freshness. The 2016 is wonderfully balanced and over delivers in every way.
They price it at $70, but we are the only US store to even have any of this rare and magnificent Amarone.
