This is a special label made by one of the oldest (and organic) family wineries in Mendocino. It isn’t widely seen, but the lowest price on Wine-Searcher was $11.99…which is quite fair for a Cabernet this good. Indeed, the suggested retail price of $15 is really very good for a Cabernet of this quality.
I also like that it’s a reasonable 13.5% alcohol. Yet still ripe, full flavored, surprisingly powerful and utterly delicious.
It has very good reviews on Vivino, all from 3 to 5 stars (very unusual for any wine under $15).
And though I know at this price it will be perceived as a “porch pounder” or party wine, it’s also – especially for a Cabernet – remarkably versatile with food.
