Kaesler’s Australian agent explains this well:

Estate grown ancient vines: 87-year-old Grenache and Mourvedre vines and 125-year-old shiraz. Wow, gorgeous purity, delicacy and richness on show here in this fine red blend of 60% Grenache;19% Mourvedre;21% Shiraz. Not sure Barossa GSM gets much better than this! Extraordinary quality and value.

And Aussie critic James Halliday rates this 2017 the top Kaesler Stonehorse, too, at 93 points:

It’s in the riper spectrum with red licorice, wood spice and plum compote flavours and a touch warm on the finish. But it is appealing thanks to the succulence and very silky tannins.

Best for Suckling, too, at 92 points:

Very attractive fruit purity here with strawberries, raspberries, dried flowers and some light earthy notes. The palate has fine and long, chalky tannins. The freshness is impressive. Long, fresh-raspberry finish.

And for Vinous:

Expansive aromas of black raspberry and cherry, with floral and white pepper nuances building in the glass. Bright and energetic on the palate, showing very good clarity and spicy lift to its juicy red and blue fruit flavors. Finishes silky, sweet and quite long, with repeating florality and gently gripping tannins.

Wine.com sold out of this at $27.99, and the nearest store to still have any (in Virginia) has it for $31.99.

The Shiraz in this, which was planted in 1893, is the same that goes into Kaesler’s famous top wine, their $180 Old Bastard Shiraz.

Australia’s GSM blends, especially those from the Barossa, are among that country’s best-value and most successful wines. But none can hold a candle on this…especially at only $19.99!
