The winery says:
Our 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is carefully sourced from our rockiest soils, this wine harmonizes seamlessly with the distinctive terroir. The climatic conditions in 2018 were optimal, yielding an exceptional abundance of top-quality grapes – a truly rare and gratifying achievement. This vintage is marked by a density of flavors, including notes of blueberry, black cherry, and tobacco. 22 months in barrel, 80% new French Oak, 14.6% abv, 165 cases.
As you might expect with such a tiny-production, winery only (almost) wine as this, there are no pro reviews, but here are a couple from consumers who raved over it at $110:
Right off the bat, this hits as varietally correct. Nice minty cocoa notes.
A full-fruit style, but balanced and quite savory. Medium+ tannins. Structured, with up-front fruit, chocolate notes, and minimal oak. We really enjoyed it now, but I think it will hold for 5+ years easily. Everyone was impressed by this one.
Can’t talk enough about how much I love this wine…a gem of a find from the Napa Valley. (This one is actually from another Napa Valley winegrower.)
Big and beautiful right out of the bottle. Michael Trujillo makes tremendous Cabernet Sauvignon and this paired perfectly with the fireside while I read.
Never heard of the vineyard. Fantastic Cabernet. Highly recommend!
Amazing!
Nose of blueberry, raspberry, and cherry. Palate is full of blueberry and raspberry. Surprisingly explosive.
Keep in mind, the 2018 Battuello Cabernet from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars sells for $230…and this one is from the pick of the vineyard’s very best fruit.
Indeed, I’d love to put this up beside its famous St. Helena neighbor Spottswoode!
