Graves Rabion is a Saint-Emilion on a steep upward curve. Especially with the vines now over 40 years old.
The 2009 vintage was very good, and the 2010 even better. But in 2011, a difficult vintage, Graves Rabion really turned the corner, making a richer, riper, fuller wine than in both previous (top) years. And every vintage since has been richer, fuller and more concentrated than the last.
Suckling actually rated the 2015 vintage 92 points (above a number of $100+ Saint-Emilions), and this 2018, in an even finer vintage, is the top Graves Rabion of all time, as you’d expect in such a standout vintage. Suckling said:
Plenty of plum and orange peel aromas following through to a full body. Dense and layered tannins with a chewy yet soft texture. Reserved and focused tannins.
