The Wine Spectator rates this the best DAV Red ever, and better than 15 out of 20 vintages of the $250 Cabernet 1147 they’ve reviewed, including the famous 2013. Indeed, they rate it higher than every 1147 between 2001 and 2018!

They say:

Racy and focused, with sanguine and iron notes piercing through the core of red currant and damson plum fruit. The long finish has mouthwatering cut as the minerality stays vibrant.

Vinous rates this the best DAV Red ever, too:

The 2018 Proprietary Red Wine is a plush, deep Bordeaux blend that makes for a terrific introduction into some of the richer, more potent wines in this range. Black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice all build as this racy, sumptuous yet mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon-based red shows what it has to offer.

Dunnuck and Suckling rate this “Outstanding,” too.

David Arthur is actually the son of Don Long, who developed the Pritchard Hill vineyards in the 1950s. Not only do they possess possibly the finest vineyards in the most prestigious (and expensive) spot in all of Napa, their vineyard here has been certified organic for 40 years. It’s in the very heart of Pritchard Hill, sandwiched between Colgin (at $700) and Ovid (at $350). And it has the oldest vines on Pritchard Hill.

So yes, we do have the lowest price anywhere for this stunning Pritchard Hill red. But the real value is that nothing else of this caliber – or with this kind of press – from Pritchard Hill can be had for less than $100. And nothing from where this is from for less than $300!
