From a vineyard many consider the greatest in Rutherford. Indeed, it was first planted by Thiomas Rutherford in the 1800s, and bought by Georges de Latour in 1928.
The winery is sold out of their greatest vintage to date, 2018, and other stores sold out at $220. Only one other store now has any (also in NC, and they have 3 bottles), at $164.99.
With such a tiny production, there are no professional reviews, but here are a couple from Vivino, where those few who had the privilege of trying this profound Cabernet loved it:
Excellent. Memorable. Smooth. Great smell, taste and finish. $220 Retail.
And simply: “Wow!”
The winery, which again sold out at a much higher price, says:
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas and flavors that are varied, multiple and concentrated with cassis, black currant, black cherry and raspberry sorbet with hints of Rutherford dust. This very traditional Cabernet Sauvignon shows discrete and fleeting hints of sage and fine herb. This leads to an intense concentration of fruit together with spice, vanilla bean, and toasty oak. The texture is firm, fresh, rich and pleasingly full bodied with a long lingering finish.
