Hop Kiln is truly one of the grand cru sites of the Russian River Valley. What is now Rochioli was in fact split off from Hop Kiln in 1919.
Like Rochioli, it produces a richer and fuller style of Russian River Pinot Noir, but still one of wonderful purity and Pinot Noir breed.
The Wine Enthusiast’s outstanding review makes this clear:
This is a sultry, brooding red wine, exuberant in black cherry, black tea, forest floor and rose petal. With a supple backbone of integrated tannin and toasted oak, it reaches a velvety finish of cola that accentuates its full-bodied style and enduring richness.
