On the Zoom call with our distributor, Randy Lewis said “if you knew how much went into this, you’d wonder why I’m selling it for this price.” After all, it’s 100% prime Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon – which from Lewis you’d expect to sell for at least $100. But it’s his passion project, and he only makes 300 cases.
This IS rather baffling. It’s the only Oakville Cabernet Lewis makes, and he only gets enough of this highly sought fruit (the most expensive in Napa, aside from Pritchard Hill) for 300 cases. So you’d think it would be his most expensive Cabernet, not his least expensive one.
It’s certainly up there with his best. In fact, it could stand beside their $175 Cabernet Reserve, not to mention the $100 regular Cabernet.
