100% old-vine Tempranillo, from prime vineyards that are hand harvested (rare even at $14) and classically vinified in used French and American oak.
We actually tasted this with another supplier, who said “buy all of this you can.” Sage advice, which we’re passing on to you.
Here’s the Wine Advocate on the last vintage they reviewed, the 2012:
The 2012 Hacienda Lopez de Haro Tempranillo is pure young Tempranillo used to break the new barrels for three to four months, showing the purple color and the exuberance of the young fruit with strawberries, raspberries, flowers and red licorice notes. A pleasure to drink slightly chilled with charcuterie. Refreshing and a real bargain.
These wines are classical-styled, well made and have an attractive price tag.
