With the early morning fog and predictable afternoon breezes of the Santa Lucia Highlands, the growing season here is extended to allow for complete ripening of the Chardonnay. The result is an ultra-rich, complex, creamy wine that highlights lively citrus and classic stone fruit flavours along with vibrant acidity.
And Vinous rates it the best ever:
Translucent straw-gold. Displays lively Meyer lemon and Seckel pear aromas that pick up ginger and honeysuckle nuances with air. Gently chewy and focused on the palate, offering nervy orchard and citrus fruit flavors and a touch of fennel. Closes long and spicy, with a touch of bitter lemon pith and a sweetening whisper of vanilla.
A perfect example of the Mer Soleil style.
