From two of the best sites in the Horse Heaven Hills, Eagle and Plow Vineyard and Zephyr Ridge, a portion was fermented in barrels through malolactic fermentation. Well framed, this plush, creamy white wine shows elegant balance between the rich fruit and savory barrel spice. Fresh pear, apple and lemon and lime combine with a light touch of caramel and toast that meld seamlessly on the juicy long finish.
Suckling rates it outstanding, too:
Sliced apples with plenty of milk and yogurt character, as well as stones. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish.
Both reviews get at the combination of creamy richness with stony minerality and exquisite balance that define American Chardonnays at their best.
This also won a Gold Medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy, where it was the top Chardonnay priced at 20 euros.
Like all of the best Washington Chardonnays, this combines the almost creamy richness of California Chardonnays with better balance, sophistication and class.
