From one of the premier producers in Calistoga, this is 60% Cabernet from Calistoga and 40% from St-Helena. In both cases it’s hillside fruit, so there’s good density and concentration.
But because it’s from warmer sites, and a vintage of just perfectly ideal ripeness, there’s a smooth, supple and silky quality to this I would almost associate with a Stags Leap Cabernet. (Something I often find in the better Cabernets from this area, like Spottswoode.)
Of course, this goes way beyond what you’d expect from a Napa Cabernet at this price. But then, it’s normally $65. And even under this label, consumers on Vivino rave over it at an average price of $47.
Here are a few of their reviews:
This was a great smooth Cabernet.
Very complex flavor profile. Tobacco, leather, dark red fruit.
A great cab to pair with meat, loved it.
