The Wine advocate rates this outstanding (at $50), saying:
The Virna 2018 Barolo Noi represents a blend of fruit from four separate villages in the appellation: Monforte d'Alba (San Giovanni), La Morra (Berri and Boiolo), Verduno (Castagni) and Novello (Cerviano Merli and Sottocastello di Novello). Noi, or "us" in Italian, is a little ripe and soft in places, especially on the mid-palate, with spicy contours of cured tobacco and toasted clove. There are some earthy aromas as well with iris root or even a hint of truffle.
Winemaker Virna Borgogno, by the way, was the first woman to graduate with honors in winemaking from the University of Turin. And Patrizia Cencioni was the first woman winemaker in Brunello.
