Chanson is one of Burgundy’s very oldest producers, but under the brilliant Jean-Pierre Confuron (who also makes his family’s wines in Vosne-Romanee), the quality is better than ever. Especially in the supreme red Burgundy vintage of 2019.
Indeed, France’s leading wine critic, Michel Bettane, recently singled out Confuron as one of only five Burgundy “Masters of pinot Noir” – along with Domaine Leroy and DRC! He said:
He possesses a magisterial comprehension of the grandeur and maturity of Burgundian Pinot Noir and how to take its best to produce long lived wines.
He also named Chanson his 2020 Winery of the Year.
