At 95 points, the second highest-rated Cote-Rotie of this top vintage, and the top-rated Cote-Rotie ever from this utterly classic producer. It’s all old-vine Petite Serine (the clone of small-berried, ultra-concentrated and uniquely spicy Syrah that’s mainly found in classic Cote-Roties), wild yeast fermented, bottled unfiltered and aged in 50% new and 50% second-fill oak.
Also the Wine Advocate’s top-rated Saint-Cosme Cote-Rotie at 95 points and Dunnuck’s at 97 points. Dunnuck says:
Not destemmed and just pure, old school Côte Rôtie, the 2019 Côte Rôtie offers a monster bouquet of ground pepper, blackberries, smoked earth, graphite, and assorted darker, meaty red and black fruits. Gorgeous on the palate as well, it's medium to full-bodied and flawlessly balanced, with ripe, present tannins and a killer finish. It has a little Jamet-like wild, classic character and is going to benefit from 7-8 years of bottle age.
In fact, he rates this above every Jamet Cote-Rotie ever, and they start at $200!
