Lots of great reviews here, but perhaps the most insightful is from British Rhone expert Jonathan Livingstone-Learmonth, who gives this his top 5-star review:
Dark, attractive robe; the nose has reserves, more to come, for now is on a savoury air, mixes raspberry and blackberry, the fruit well struck. It gives some excitement. The palate is well furnished, flows well, has authority, pedigree. It’s nicely complete, balanced, stylish, convincing, carries fruit purity allied to smooth tannins, a very good package, the aftertaste clear. 80% Gren, 20% Syrah. €30 at the domaine. From 2023, can be decanted. 2041-43
As he notes, it’s 30 euros at the domaine, versus only 17 for their 2018 vintage…so they know just how special this 2019 is. Indeed, he rates it their only 5-star vintage ever.
Dunnuck rates it outstanding, too:
There are two Rasteau from this reference point Châteauneuf du Pape producer. Starting with the 2019 Rasteau, it has plenty of chocolatey black raspberry and cherry fruits as well as loads of minerality, medium body, a ripe yet focused frame, and a great finish. This is classic, powerful Rasteau that’s going to benefit from 1-3 years of bottle age and evolve for a decade. It’s beautifully done.
As does the Wine Spectator.
