This is 45% Syrah, 35% Cabernet and 10% each Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. The product of an unusually long growing season, so Porter says the Cabernet and Cabernet Franc got richer, riper and more lush than usual.
Porter says:
Redolent of kirsch, brandied cherries, creme de cassis and red twizzlers I was looking for something that was juicy and delicious with all foods. Pulled pork BBQ, curries, burgers, and things like fried chicken that people don't usually think about with high end wine. Obviously we don't take ourselves very seriously, the wine is meant to be fun and give the middle finger to the old school establishment, but the juice is dopeAF. Soft edges and round, luscious qualities much like myself.
It's 14.6% alcohol – and definitely has the huge flavor and richness to support it. But this is remarkably well balanced, classy and complex, too.
I like the fact that there’s only 10% new French oak here, with the rest being second fill and neutral barrels.
This is the kind of rich red wine we like to drink. And if you said it was $100, I’d definitely believe it.
