Vinous rates this the best Herold Cabernet ever (at least under $750): f
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Brown Label (Coombsville) is a blend from Caldwell, Bennett and Caprignan. A bold, dramatic wine, the Coombsville Cabernet packs a ton of punch. Blackberry, cedar, tobacco, menthol and licorice all build in this rich, heady Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. All it needs is a bit of time for the tannins to soften. It’s a classic Mark Herold wine build on opulence and exotic richness.
It actually rates higher than even the 2013 and 2015 Mastodon – both at $750!
Also a sky-high 95-point average rating on CellarTracker, with reviews like this:
First time review the ‘19 MH Coombsville. It’s just outta this world delicious. The spectacular aromas and taste are so distinct. I could easily pick out the black cardamom, cloves, cinnamon sticks, savory spices, black plums, toasted blackberries, molten dark chocolate, melted black licorice, sweet tobacco and vanilla bean. Vibrant acidity and silky tannins on long finish. Wow!!
In fact, it rates above the $750 Mastodon on CellarTracker, too!
