Under Andy Erickson’s tutelage, Mayacamas has somehow retained its classicism and elevated its quality.
The Wine Spectator, which rates this equal to the 2015 (#2 Wine of the Year) and 2016 (#4 Wine of the Year), says:
Loaded with character and energy, this version reveals heavy notes of zesty sweet bay leaf and sassafras that infuse a core of steeped red currant and mulberry fruit, all carried by bright acidity and iron-laced tannins.
