Decanter 95:
Lovely, elegant nose - an inviting mix of restrained blackcurrants and cassis with a hint of menthol, leather and newly sawn wood. A dense, weighty palate with good acidity and grippy tannins. Subtle black fruits linger pleasantly. Lovely structure and good freshness. Intriguing all round.
Top score ever for the Wine Enthusiast, too:
There's a mineral-laced start to the nose of this bottling, with hints of asphalt and graphite, followed by darker stewed fruit on the back. The palate is layered in creamy, lavish tannins, as flavors of cassis and caramel aim to impress through the clean acidity.
Top score ever on CellarTracker, too, with this review:
Full bodied, almost sappy, this is a big and firm wine with lots going on but never over the top. Cassis, currants, black cherries, cedar, and smoke. Good brightness, better balance, with a long and concentrated finish.
And best ever on Vivino, too, at $45:
Stunning. Smooth, elegant yet structured with a long delicious finish. Great value!
This one exceeded expectations. It drinks above its price point. Dark fruit, vanilla, a touch of milk chocolate and oak in a long finish.
Perfect balance of dark fruit and earthy flavors. Definitely going to be one I purchase often.
What this is – and it seems everyone agrees – is a very impressive Cabernet in the richer style at $45.
