Dan Phillps has been making his hugely popular Southern Belle, a blend of lusciously rich Spanish Syrah and Mourvedre aged in used Pappy Van Winkle Barrels, since the 2005 vintage. And the newly released 2019, a very low-yielding and colossally concentrated vintage (indeed, many growers struggled with what they considered over-concentration), is as expected by far the most impressive Southern Belle yet.
