This is simply one of the most remarkable Italian whites we've ever had…at any price.
It’s 100% Gargagnega, the main Soave grape, from a high-altitude, steep basalt vineyard (the “Monte di Mezzo”) with many vines over 100 years old and planted in the old pergole style. Fermented with natural yeast for a very long 30 days in stainless steel, then aged in steel a year with slow, natural malo and frequent batonage.
The result is a wine with almost creamy richness, but with the freshness of Soave (though I find with much greater complexity). A truly stunning dry white.
