Outstanding ratings from both the Guide Hachette and the French VertedeVin, which says:
On the nose, fruity with notes of ripe blackcurrant, ripe raspberry and touches of coffee associated with small nuances of violet and fine points of cardamom. On the palate it is fruity and offers juiciness, freshness, minerality, good definition, a certain gourmandise and a nice creaminess. The wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, raspberry and touches of violet associated with wafts of chocolate, licorice stick, hazelnut, coffee and cardamom. Good length.
Also “outstanding” and one of the “Top 50 Wines for Christmas” for the Irish Independent,” which said:
Drinking as dark and dense as it looks, this young St Emilion is a rich and bold fruit bomb with slightly meaty earthy aromas of crushed black fruit, pepper and cocoa, plush mouthfeel and fine ripe tannins. Bordeaux for lovers of generous fruit-forward Merlot.
And also for the Irish Sun:
DELIGHTFUL two hectares make up this little property on the edge of Bordeaux’s St Emillion region.
The fruit-driven wines derived from the grapes are a deep ruby colour with a bouquet that exudes notes of dark fruit and black pepper.
The fruit-filled palate (think blackberries and damsons) has a hint of spice, ripe tannins, and a firm finish.
2020 is a GREAT vintage for Saint-Emilion, and at 98 points, the best in Vinous’s vintage chart. They say:
Two thousand-twenty is an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, certainly the best in the 2018-2020 trilogy. It was another warm and very dry year but without the excesses of the previous vintages (most notably the heat of 2018), generally well-timed episodes of rain and no significant shock events, except isolated hail. Quality is exceptionally high among the great wines of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.
