In James Suckling’s recent reviews of 736 top wines. He rated this extraordinary ancient-vine Moulin-a-Vent 97 points.
Here are just a few of the wines that rated below it: Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle, Clape Cornas, Dominus, several top Lokoyas, 2019 and 2018 Ad Vivum Cabernet…and the list goes on and on.
He said:
Staggeringly deep and complex nose that ranges from sour cherry to candied orange peel via a slew of wild herbs and a touch of cocoa powder. Enormously concentrated and structured, yet with a wonderful lightness of touch. Then comes the very powerful, multifaceted finish that sweeps you away. Drink or hold.
Great Moulin-a-Vent is always one of the best, if not THE best, values in greater Burgundy. But this one is at another level.
