Vinous 91:
Black currants, grilled sage and crushed stone form a darkly enticing bouquet as the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon opens in the glass. This is surprisingly juicy and energetic in character, with racy wild berry fruits offset by a tinge of sour citrus. It tapers off with dramatic length and grippy tannins yet somehow leaves the mouth watering for more. Hints of cocoa and a twist of tangerine linger.
They actually rated it above the winery’s top $72 Cabernet, their Pearl Collection, in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 vintages.
And also over every Austin Hope Cabernet ever!
Outstanding for the Wine Enthusiast, too:
Black plum and violet aromas meet with toasted oak and cocoa dust on the nose of this bottling. There's a chalky frame to the palate, where blackberry and woodspice flavors align.
And 92 – as well as best ever - for the Tasting Panel, too.
The Wine Advocate hasn’t reviewed this yet, but rated the lesser 2019 vintage 92. (Vinous rated this 2021 five points higher!)
