Brian David Kulich is a veteran California sommelier (with stints at Boulevard in San Francisco and the famed Michelin 3-star Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa. Here, he uses his connections to source the very finest material and his experience and aesthetic to fashion it into a Pinot that would pair perfectly with world class cuisine.
This brilliant Pinot just edges out his 94-point Russian River offering as his best one ever. The winery sold out of it at $55 – and so did every other store but one (which has five bottles left at that price).
They pretty much echo the 95-point review from the Tasting Panel, calling it a WOW Pinot Noir! The palate is quite rich and expressive with layers of dark cherry and savory spice. Long and complex finish.
The Tasting Panel rates it 95 points and a Publisher’s Pick at $55, saying:
Meaty notes, with an onslaught of red fruits and a core of tobacco leaf. Background notes arise, with dried roses leading the fray. Raisins and soy sauce follow, matched with a front line of acidity. Well-structured with a complexity that keeps it fresh. Outstanding.
Indeed, they rate it above such Pinot Noir stars as Kosta-Browne, Chev and Belle Glos. And it’s their top-rated Pinot Noir at $55.
It’s also a perfect exemplar of the Pinot Noir purist’s ideal: that is, a Pinot of wonderful flavor, complexity and class with an almost ethereal and weightless quality.
