Wine Enthusiast 94 – top vintage ever of this old school Napa Cab legend:

Seductive oak spices and a plush mouthfeel come with abundant red and black fruits in this full-bodied, appropriately tannic wine that needs time to reach its full potential. Pine and rosemary accents merge nicely with the blackberries and blueberries. Best from 2028–2038

Which sounds like an utterly classic Stags Leap Cabernet to me!

And here’s a very insightful European review:

Such a delightful albeit primary wine. After positive experiences with their Three Graces, their aged Napa Valley designates and their immaculate 1975 Gran Val, I avidly seek out their wines. This one was going for €55. It’s not that this wine compares to their aforementioned, but this one does show a classy and fresh character that I found in them. There’s no overt oak presence- absolutely no vanilla, nor are there any soupy, stewed or over ripened fruit notes. It has loads of cassis, mocha and zesty blackberries; It’s vibrant and alive. It’s not so much what this wine possesses that makes it tasty or extraordinary, I think it’s that it is not weighed down by any other characteristics that I do not enjoy that are common in Napa Valley Cabernets. This wine tastes just like Cabernet should- it’s not muddled, it’s not murky, it’s not syrupy…. It’s just fresh and lively and a joy to drink. Based on how well their wines age across the board, I’m excited to drink the next of 11 left in about 4 years, and I’m sure once it peaks in maybe 12-24 years, it’ll be marvelous.
