The winery says:
A concentrated and vibrant wine, 2021 Duel offers an enticing mix of raspberry and currants enhanced by an essence of savory herbs. A medley of blackberry, red plum, and crème de cassis flavors sweeps across the classically fruit-forward palate and is warmed by spicy undertones of sandalwood and cardamom.
Top Duel ever for the Wine Independent:
The 2021 Duel Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Shiraz. Deep garnet-purple colored, it gallops out with energetic notes of crushed blackcurrants and fresh blackberries, leading to hints of black pepper, violets, and garrigue. The full-bodied palate is beguilingly light on its feet with bold freshness and ripe, rounded tannins to support the vibrant black fruit layers, finishing long and peppery. Yum!
And Suckling:
The nose is deeply scented and lifted, with aromas of blackcurrants, olive tapenade and cured meat. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins and bright acidity, offering notes of blackberry compote, graphite and dark chocolate. A blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% shiraz. Drink or hold.
