Now, we’ve had a lot of wonderful Cote Chalonnaise reds, like those from Michel Juillot. But this one is simply exquisite.
Indeed, Eric Asimov of the New York Times has called it his favorite wine of all the Cote Chalonnaise…above, for instance, the $140 red Rully from the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti’s director, Aubert de Villaine!
Erell Ninot was honored as the “Best Young Winemaker in Burgundy” earlier in her career, and this Rully, from her oldest vines (organically farmed), is the domain’s standout.
Compared to other top Chalonnaise reds (even great ones, like Juillot), there’s a purity, elegance and even “breed” here that sets it apart.
