2021 Podere Il Carnasciale Il Toscana IGT

Wine Spectator 96 – two points higher than the legendary 2018 Caberlot (a Vinous 100, and sold out at $300 in the only store that had any):

Exuding black currant, blackberry, violet, licorice and iron flavors, this pure red is racy and well-delineated. Harmonious and persistent, offering a long aftertaste that picks up a salty taste along with the fruit, this is simply radiant. Caberlot. Best from 2026 through 2045.

Jancis Robinson rates this the best Il Carnasciale ever, too (and above almost every Caberlot), saying:

Impenetrable deep ruby. Deep, suave red-fruit nose supported by a touch of oak. Elegant and a little vibrant on the palate. Light and yet concentrated, cool red fruit with polished, fine, long tannins.

As does the Austrian Falstaff:

Bright ruby red. On the nose with elegant savouriness, with red currants, red bell pepper, plus some graphite and blood, fine oak, cold smoke, elderberries. On the palate juicy, clear, with exciting notion and good flow, hearty, young tannin, in the echo deliciously juicy.
