2021 Podere Sapaio Pappolo

This is a special bottling for the North Carolina importer, which in part explains its amazing value.

We like how one California retailer describes Sapaio: “Bolgheri by way of Margaux.” A simply gorgeous, yet also quite aristocratic (in style if not price) Super-Tuscan.

We loved the 2015 vintage, and 2016, 2018 and 2019 even more, but the “majestic” (Vinous) 2021 vintage has produced the richest, most beautiful, complete, complex and refined Pappolo yet.

That is, a Bolgheri Cabernet blend at a third the price – but with all the complexity, nobility and class - of its fancy pants rivals.
