The winery says:

True to Paso Robles’ signature style, our Deadeye Cabernet Sauvignon is big and bold, ready-drinking, with a rich texture and firm backbone. The nose opens with tempting aromas of currant, black licorice and hints of coffee. On the palette, the opulent, sweet-fruit flavors are balanced with subtle notes of anise, peppercorns and a touch of tobacco to add warmth and dimension. A plush mid-palate finish with textured minerality and bright acidity, making this a great accompaniment to a rich, savory meal.

Suckling 93:

This is aromatic with notes of cassis, dried spicy herbs, walnuts and spice box. Medium-bodied with juicy, fruit forward character and polished tannins. Sleek and round-textured. Hints of citrus peel and spices at the end.

Great reviews on CellarTracker, too:

Giving this a 91 for the style: lush, ripe California fruit and drinkability with balanced oak. Tannins were not heavy, this one doesn't require food. Drink them over the next few years, no reason to wait. Good QPR for around $30 IMO since it’s well made.

Just kickin' it! layers of silky dark red fruit and right in the sweetspot of where I like to age my Cali Cabs: the fruit tannin feels resolved when the tannin from the wood remains present. I don't find it too sweet and feel any residual sugar is kept inbounds.

It’s my third of 4 bottles from this order; full mouthful of Bordeaux (if I didn’t know it was Cali.) Balanced, perfectly suited to follow an excellent Pinot (Bergstrom) followed by a great cab (Tobin James) ... and preceding a 20-year-old cab.

Very nice wine, and a solid value!

As they all note, this is a standout Cabernet value even at its normal $30 price.

What may be best of all is despite all of its pure Paso Robles richness, this comes in at only 13.5% alcohol…a tribute to its prime, high-altitude vineyards. After all, the winery’s name, Provenance, comes from their insistence on the finest vineyard sites.
