The winery says:

A heady nose delivers fruit-forward aromas of blackberry, raspberry and plum with traces of licorice, thyme, vanilla and cherry. The palate is beautifully balanced, showing layers of black fruit and chocolate-covered blueberry with underlying herbal, cedar and mineral complexity. Exquisitely rounded tannins imbue the finish with stature and length.

And the Wine Advocate:

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a barrel sample of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Petit Verdot maturing for 16 months in 50% new French oak and is due to be bottled in the spring of 2024. The nose offers wild berry fruit streaked with graphite and nuances of truffle, forest floor and oak spices. The full-bodied palate is highly concentrated and floral, with approachable, clay-textured tannins, satisfying bursts of acidity and a long, perfumed finish.

They rate it now above even the great 2021.

But at 96 points, CellarTracker rates it above EVERY vintage ever of the $275 Daou Patrimony and $150 Soul of a Lion…and of course over every Daou Cabernet Reserve, too.

Top Daou Cab Reserve ever on Vivino, too, with these reviews:

Full bodied, with gorgeous structure, and very present but already quite ripe tannins. 18 months in oak. Coffee, cassis, blackberry, tea leaves, anchovies.

Incredible paso cab, really smooth. Loaded with blackberry jam, plum, blueberry, black cherry, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, leather, smoke, minerals

Beautiful dark fruit grips the side of the glass. Oak and vanilla overtones. Silky tannins caress the mouth and drop into the abyss.

Opulent and delicious. Cassis and even more cassis. Great depth and minerality. Very young, but showing huge potential. Mint, tea leaves, leather - so irresistible!

It’s so rare to find high-quality Cabernets like this in halves – and they are NEVER well under the regular bottle price like this.

There’s a reason this winery recently sold for a billion dollars!
