As much as we loved the Beltins for its fuller silex aged in oak style, this is Sacy’s most elegant (and normally expensive) Sancerre, from kimmeridgien chalk terres blanches soil.
Gilman rates it her top Sancerre ever, saying:
Karine Millet’s 2022 Sancerre “les Bouffants” is a superb wine that really gives center stage to the limestone minerality found in her pure terres blanches soils. The wine delivers a bright aromatic constellation of gooseberry, green apple, chalky minerality, gentle grassiness, lime blossoms and a touch of citrus peel in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, pure and complex, with a full-bodied format, good depth and soil inflection, a lovely girdle of acidity and a long, well balanced and very elegant finish. This is lovely, very refined Sancerre.
