Here’s what must surely be the best buy yet from the superb Perraud estate in Burgundy.
Indeed, the very serious French magazine Gilbert & Gaillard rates it the top Perraud yet at 91 points, saying:
Bright light gold. The nose opens up gradually to ripe fruit notes and fresh butter. The palate shows great drive, weight, character and freshness. The finish becomes more intense, delivering persistent menthol-like perfumes.
Decanter loved it, too, saying:
Well chiseled mineral, honey dew melon and mango with a refreshing acidity and fleshy texture.
And BBC wine expert Kate Goodman says:
I love the effortless style of this Saint-Véran Chardonnay. There's an extra intensity, creaminess and a lovely acidity on the finish that makes it so appealing. I'd enjoy it with a pot of mussels.
