Sautereau’s main market is the UK, where he also makes the private-label Sancerre for the venerable Berry Brothers & Rudd.
Decanter gave the 2015 vintage 95 points and the 2018 vintage 93, saying:
Fabulously pure with white peach and grapefruit melting together; the palate is supple and soft with a backdrop of mineral freshness.
This 2020 vintage is of course superior to both 2015 and 2018. (It’s considered perhaps the vintage of a generation here. 5/5 versus 4/5 for the other two.)
Hand-picked, hand-crafted and sustainably farmed, this is a benchmark as Sancerre gets. And as reasonable, too.
