The name “Hook & Ladder” comes from Cecil Deloach’s longtime service as a firefighter at San Francisco’s Hook & Ladder Station 10.
Just a classic Russian River Pinot Noir from a vineyard that is surrounded by ones that sell for three times this price, or more. And this is the oldest vineyard in the area!
And interestingly, it’s made almost identically to the original wines from its near neighbor, Williams-Selyem. As the winery explains:
Using old world techniques, whole berries, and whole clusters to make our Pinot Noir in small batches that we up to three times a day. After native yeast fermentation the wine is aged in French oak barrels for up to 8 months to achieve optimum balance and complexity.
